When it comes to skin care, it has unfortunately become a very sensitive topic amongst women. I get it; some suffer from acne, dry skin, oily skin, and much more! We’re taught to just put on makeup and hide it without even thinking of the EXTRA consequences that comes with doing such a thing.
When one wants to have longer hair, healthier body, etc... obviously you have to start with the root cause of why these things have hit a plateau! What’s a plateau you may ask ? A plateau occurs when you stall out on progress despite continuing to do “all of the right things,”. This is why it’s so important to fish for the right process that works for you because not everyone is the same.
Now when it comes to skin care, from personal experience, I’ve noticed that now that I’ve been makeup free for 2 years and a few change, my skin has flourished like never before. The reason why I do not wear makeup has a lot to do with what I’ve found in the scripture (I have a YouTube video on this topic, link is down below). Not wearing makeup anymore has given me more time in a day, and appreciation of The Most High’s work in me. Truly humbling. I always think to myself, why change the appearance of the artist’s work?
Now let’s think of a plant as an analogy; In order for a plant to flourish and not die, one must water it, give it sunlight, and if you want sing to the plant (I heard this works!). This process of taking care of a plant takes consistency. If you skip 3 days, you’ll notice that the plant starts to sag, the plant no longer is upright. I used this example with the plant to have you see that it has a lot to do with our skin as well daughters of Zion. Taking care of your skin is like showing Abba that you are thankful for what He has given you. This reminds me of the verse in Luke 16:10 “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.”
Now before you start this skin care journey, have you taken the time to check out the type of skin you have? Does it get very shiny throughout the day as in oily ? Or is it really really dry? Do you break out easy or only when your period is going to arrive ? Once you’ve figured that out it’s time to get the right product that suits your situation.
